Turns out I have an Intercostal Muscle Strain, which has been getting progressively worse since it happened last Thursday. Yesterday the pain was up to a 15 out of 10 and felt like a knife between my ribs with every breath, step and turn. I called a neighbor to ask if she could watch my dog so I could go to the ER and beg for a nerve block; my neighbor Liz Garrison happens to be in the health & wellness field and invited me over to use something called a Bemer. It has somethi ... ng to do with speeding up blood flow, circulation - I don't know; I was in so much pain I couldn't breathe. I'm a real skeptic; however, half an hour later my pain was down to a 3, which lasted all day. I went back last night and am virtually pain free. Am I completely healed, no - am I on my way, yes. Much better than my original diagnosis of 8 weeks of rest, soaking in epsom salts twice a day, no driving or sudden movements (not possible with a 40 pound puppy).
